the Weird Art of LEE BROWN COYE Part 5

Another astounding collection of macabre images by our favorite here at FSR, Mr. Lee Brown Coye; all culled from one single glorious issue of Weird Tales. These illustrations are for stories by E. Everett Evans, Harold Lawlor, and the incredible Allison Harding - whom, try as I might, I cannot locate any information on. I tacked on a Arkham House advert at the end.

3D DANSE MACABRE

A real surprise for 1988, this comic appears to be a horror off-shoot of an all 3D book featuring the work of Freedom School Records faves Lee Brown Coye and Matt Fox! Check out that incredible Matt Fox cover ... wow!

I've tried to make the images more viewable; the 3D thing was making it tough. The last image is the last (and best) page of a Matt Fox horror comic.

Click for super-sizing, and enjoy!

the Weird Art of Boris Dolgov, Humistone, Bok, and M.N. Beale

Boris Dolgov was a contemporary of Lee Brown Coye, Virgil Finlay, and Hannes Bok; all artists for Weird Tales. Like Bok, it seems like Dolgov was not at all shy about drawing sexy girls. I particularly enjoy the heading for the Bradbury short story by M.N. Beale and hope to do an entire post on Mr. Beale in the future.

As always, click the images for large scans. Enjoy!

the Weird Art of LEE BROWN COYE Part 4

Another jaw-dropping smattering of the beautiful and weird from the master; Lee Brown Coye. All images from this post are from the July 1947 issue of WEIRD TALES (pictured above). Also in this issue are some choice pieces from M.N. Beale, which will be posted this week.
